Securing Reece James on a new long term contract was Chelsea’s priority in terms of internal affairs over the summer, and in the end the new ownership managed it.
Next in line is Reece’s old mate and fellow Cobham boy Mason Mount. The midfielder has had a slow start to the season, but he was brilliant this weekend, and much like last year appears to be warming up into his best form as the season progresses.

According to Fabrizio Romano’s Tweet today, Chelsea are working on a new deal for him as a “priority” after ticking the James box.
Mount loves the club, the club loves him, he’s coming into his prime and is a homegrown lad. There should be no issue sorting a long term deal as far as we can see, and we can’t wait to look to the future knowing that he and Reece are locked in.
