Jorginho’s agent claims he is “moving towards” new Chelsea deal

Jorginho’s agent has been speaking to the media – there’s a surprise for you – and has claimed that his client’s priority is to stay at Chelsea.

The midfielder in into the last year of his contract, and will be able to leave on a free next summer. He can legally start to negotiate with clubs from January, although informal contact will realistically start long before then.

Attempts were presumably made to tie him down during the summer, with no success.

Football.London have quotes from his representative Joao Santos, who said that the pair “prioritise Chelsea and we are moving towards [signing it].”

We’re not sure whether to believe that. If Jorginho’s intentions are to leave on a free, he would tell his agent to say the exact same thing. A year ago, Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger kept the door open to stay right up until they had signed to leave. It’s the sensible thing to do.
