N’Golo Kante suffers injury setback which puts World Cup in doubt

N’Golo Kante has had a setback in his hamstring injury and will miss more games, with his place at the World Cup now in doubt.

L’Equipe in his native France report that the midfielder, who was originally hurt during Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with Tottenham earlier this season, will now be out for 4 to 5 games. That takes us almost up to the start of the World Cup, meaning the France midfielder will have no time to recover fitness before the tournament kicks off.

Kante had been in training with the first team for two weeks, and was expected to feature at some point against Wolves at the weekend, or against Milan on Tuesday night.

The fact that he wasn’t on the bench for either game raised suspicions, and they have been confirmed by this bombshell news.

We expect Graham Potter to be asked for more details in his Friday press conference tomorrow.
