Chelsea sacked several backroom staff members in the last few months as Todd Boehly and the new ownership look to appoint their own men from top to bottom.
This included the head of the medical department and the chief physio – both of whom had been at the club for along time.
Didier Drogba wasn’t sure about this, and he criticised the conduct of the new owners in how they dealt with the long-serving staffers.
‘I knew this club with a certain class during the Abramovich era, but today I find it lacking,’ Drogba told Canal Plus.
‘It’s very hard for me to see how they got rid of certain people, for example the physiotherapists, who were there for a very long time.
‘They should go back to the principles and values they had.’
The timing has all been very unfortunate. In the weeks since sacking those key members of staff upstairs, they’ve had serious injuries to Wesley Fofana and Reece James, and seen a major setback in N’Golo Kante’s recovery.
It’s not necessarily related to the change in personnel, but it’s a tricky situation for the temporary cover to look after, and it’s a bad look for those upstairs for making the move midseason – even before you get onto Drogba critique of the ethics of it.
No concuerdo con Drogba, el cambio se tenia que hacer, nunca se vio un trabajo efectivo del equipo médico, siempre estuvieron las lesiones sin superar, y Todd tiene todo el derecho a renovar o mejorar sus líneas débiles, hasta aquí sus cambios lo respaldan.
Does Didier have some insider knowledge here or is he just casting stones from afar? Can’t understand how he equates changes in personnel to a lack of “class” or a change in “principles.” The new ownership is splashing money to improve the club. Seems WAY premature for Didier (or anyone) to be passing judgment. My guess is he’s hearing from an old teammate who was let go (Cech) and knows little else about it. Would be better for everyone if he just kept his mouth shut and let the new leadership install their people rather wading into affairs he knows little about.
