There is such confusion about what formation Chelsea are playing today, and who is replacing Reece James at the back, that the fact that Kai Havertz is in the team is being overlooked.
He’s now playing for his third Chelsea manager, and Potter is seemingly as keen to get the best out of the German attacker as his predecessors.
Nobody doubts the talent is there – that’s why every manager thinks they can tap in to his amazing ability – and maybe a new system will finally make the most of Havertz.
It will be interesting to see how things line up today. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang often starts out wide, but will basically play in the box up top. Raheem Sterling will stick to the left flank.
That means Havertz will probably nominally play from the right, although he will drift inside and often also push beyond the last man in an attempt to use his aerial ability.
