Chelsea have reportedly gone through a very messy set of negotiations with Benfica to try and sign Enzo Fernandez.
Multiple sources have been reporting this week that Chelsea were very close to signing the midfielder this window. But it looks like Chelsea’s lowballing in negotiations have annoyed Benfica to the point they are now saying pay the release clause or don’t get the player.

According to Fabrizio Romano in his latest video seen below, Chelsea decided to submit an 85m euros bid for Enzo AFTER they had already made a verbal offer around the release clause value!
Romano says, ‘let’s see’ if Chelsea come back in, but he believes they might now turn to other options such as Moises Caicedo.
