Chelsea have confirmed the loan of Andrey Santos to Vasco De Gama.
The wonderkid midfielder signed for the Blues in January, but despite a starring role in the subsequent U20 Championship in South America, didn’t pick up enough work permit points to be able to join Chelsea before the January registration window closed.
That has led to a bit of a scramble to find him a play to play his football this season.
At first it seemed like he was going to join Palmeiras, one of Brazil’s top teams. But they wanted him until the end of the Brazilian league season in December, while Chelsea want the chance to recall him this summer, assuming he gets a work permit at the second time of asking.
Palmeiras weren’t interested in that, but Vasco – the club we signed him from – certainly are, and they have taken him for just 3 months on loan. After that, he will be free to join up with our squad.
