Two English Premier leagues clubs including Chelsea have been placed on high alert after reports suggested that Edinson Cavani’s agents travelled to London today.
The Uruguayan International Edinson Cavani joined PSG last summer from Napoli with the fee reported to be around 55M. It’s been said that the striker is seeking a move away from the French Champions. Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United are all contenders and need to watch out for a potential signing.
Meanwhile Chelsea appear to be the front runners in the hunt despite Sir Alex Ferguson making a private phone call to the French coach Laurent Blanc to enquire about the 26 years old Edinson Cavani.
Jose Mourinho made it clear he won’t sign any player until the summer but the Blues could easily anticpate their forward strikers options before the summer arrives as Samuel Eto is on a one year contract and Demba Ba looks to be on the brink of departing from Stamford Bridge.
Arsenal would also be interested but Wenger is looking to keep his current strikers Olivier Giroud and Mezut Ozil which can possibly rule out a possible signing of the Uruguayn International.
Edinson Cavani: Mourinho unaware of any move
Mourinho has claimed that he is unaware of any potential move for the Uruguayan forward.
The 51-year-old told reporters: “In this moment we are trying to sign nobody. I have no idea.
“He just arrived in the club six months ago. Maybe he’s so happy he doesn’t want to leave and maybe the club is happy and they don’t want him to leave.”
Chelsea have also been linked with a move for Liverpool striker Luis Suarez.
