The rumours about Conor Gallagher leaving Chelsea are puzzling, as Kweku Afari explained on Sky Sports News today, where he picked out some very good reasons that the club should be keeping the dynamic midfielder.
He mentioned three things that are in favour of Gallagher staying – firstly that he “shows characteristics that Pochettino likes” in his work rate and pressing.
He added to that the fact that Gallagher is a central midfielder, an area where we’re short. Then there’s the final factor – he’s an academy product and “understands what it means to be a Chelsea player.”
His conclusion was that he “can’t see Chelsea letting him go.” We wish we could agree.
