Chelsea have had their latest bid for Moises Caicedo – an £80m offer – turned down “immediately”, according to Dharmesh Sheth on Sky Sports.
As the reporter points out, that is an important factor. If Chelsea had offered something close to what Brighton would accept, you’d expect a counter offer from the Seagulls. The fact it’s been dismissed out of hand shows just how far we are from what they want – and given we’ve reached the heights of £80m, we’re increasingly convinced that this deal simply isn’t going to happen.
If you can’t reach common ground enough for open negotiations after 4 bids, things clearly aren’t working out.
Not only that, but as Sheth says, there are now no ongoing talks between the two clubs. Perhaps we come in with another, even bigger offer – or perhaps now this deal is dead. If that’s the case, after a whole summer spent chasing him, that is a massive blow to our chances this season, before a ball is even kicked.
You can see his explanation in the clip embedded here:

This situation is going to require Caicedo making his desire to get a deal done known. 100m is an outrageous number and it seems clear Brighton have set that figure in order to sabotage a move. So, it’s really up to the player to convince his club that they are going to have a malcontent on their hands unless they become a bit more reasonable/flexible with their valuation. They can talk all they want about having European football this coming season when Chelsea has none, but it’s quite predictable that Brighton will lack the depth the perform well in both the league and Europe (in addition to two domestic cups) and will probably underperform last season’s result in the trying. The end result will likely be that their run in Europe is a one off and they’ll be back to middle of the table by season’s end. Meanwhile, Chelsea will almost certainly turn things around this season and look like the far better club a year from now. If you’re Moises Caicedo there’s just no question which club you’d rather be at in the long run.
The problem with Chelsea FC they try to lower the value but the player signed his contract extension last year . And of course Brighton has the right to their price . If Chelsea really want him they can gamble the price at least £90-95 . Chelsea FC wasting their time to reinforce their CM . They should have sign now a Defensive Midfielder while they’re negotiating with caicedo . Chelsea knows they need to build in CM position plus they now to sign another CB . If Desasi is cheaper than guehi why not sign cheaper version. Olise and wahi will be good addition for Chelsea . Signing African player’s is good but soon the African national League start is problem for Chelsea . Chelsea FC should get playmaker caliber to play alongside Enzo that is European player which will not affect the team soon concaf tournament start . They need another Jackson signing with European decent so no disruption on the coming season EPL tournament . Chelsea FC should act quickly to sign reinforcement before it to late . They want to have a successful season .
