In an explosive morning of Chelsea news, we’re hearing from Matt Law that Liverpool have outbid Chelsea for Moises Caicedo.
Our attempts to sign the midfielder have been crawling along for weeks, but there was talk that we were hoping to get a deal over the line this week. But in a sudden fracture of the status quo, Liverpool have made an offer above our best bid, which could turn the whole deal upside down.
Law reports that Caicedo would still prefer a move to Chelsea over Liverpool. but he may not get the choice if the Reds have an offer accepted and Chelsea don’t.
Brighton have been holding out for £100m while our largest bid so far was reported at £80m. Liverpool’s offer could be anywhere in between, and will likely precipitate a rapid response from us and we look to finally seal a deal we’ve chased all summer.
If Chelsea lose out on Caicedo then they only have them selves to blame.I cannot understand why they have messed around for so long,just pay the money asked (for probably the best holding midfielder around)and let’s get on with the new season.
Liverpool have been doing the same with Lavia and Chelsea have made a higher bid for him. It’ll be interesting to see who gets who in the end, either way, the selling clubs will be happy.
If Liverpool have made a higher offer than Chelsea and it’s accepted, will Caicedo be prepared to say no to Liverpool and stay at Brighton. An interesting predicament.
