The team sheets yesterday caused quite a stir when they came out.
After playing a back four in every preseason game, Mauricio Pochettino appeared to have changed to a back 3. There were certainly 3 central defenders lining up to start.
But when a journalist tried to ask the coach about that after the game, he shot down the whole premise, insisting that it had been a back 4 out of possession, with Levi Colwill at left back and Ben Chilwell left wing.
It’s a moot point really, as we all know formations are a very rough way of looking at the game, but it was interesting to note how vehemently Pochettino denied the claims.
