Chelsea have agreed a £28m deal to sell Lewis Hall to Newcastle, The Daily Telegraph are reporting.
In a move that’s likely to be bitterly unpopular with most fans, the club have agreed to sell the 18 year old talent to the Magpies just weeks after it seemed that a new long term contract was going to be signed to tie him to the club long term.
The financial situation we’re in, having spent so much so fast, makes deals for home grown players hard to turn down.
The excess of buying spare parts and bad players over the last year is already coming home to roost, with a paltry £28m hardly a good return for one of the country’s most promising players in his position.
Could we not just have had one fewer Brazilian wonderkids, and kept the home grown and established Hall instead? There seems to be a desperate lack of logic to selling your best youngsters to afford overpriced young players of uncertain quality from elsewhere.
