Noni Madueke has been the best player on the pitch in this first half.
The winger has had frustrating minor injuries which have limited his game time under Mauricio Pochettino, but today he finally got a start and he’s made the most of it.
In a largely disappointing first half from the Blues, Madueke has been a constant threat. He has made his most significant contribution just before half time. Taking in the ball and pulling off a magnificent turn, the winger attacked the box and was scythed down.
He stepped up and took the penalty coolly, waiting for the keeper to go and then striking the ball the other way. Thank god there’s someone in this team taking risks, the rest of this rotated team look content just moving the ball around in non-threatening areas.
