OFFICIAL: Chelsea draw Brighton in 3rd round of Carabao Cup

Chelsea will play Brighton in the third round of the Carabao Cup.

These draws always seem to throw up interesting ties, and this is just a classic.

A year ago Chelsea bought Marc Cucurella from the Seagulls. Then, a month later, they poached Graham Potter and half of his coaching staff, as well as several recruitment personnel.

This summer has been an endless battle between the two, with the Seagulls desperate to sign Levi Colwill and the Blues determined to sign Moises Caicedo.

In the end Chelsea got their man and held on to Colwill, and while it’s not clear how relations are between the boardrooms of the two clubs, there’s certainly no love lost between the fanbases.

For a third round league cup tie, this one could get pretty spicy. Roberto de Zerbi’s team haven’t found their rhythm yet this season but they do still look very dangerous, and if Chelsea play like they did tonight against Wimbledon, they’ll have little chance.
