Juan Mata: No offers yet

The 25-year-old Chelsea midfielder Juan Mata is a potential target for Moyes according to some senior figures at Old Trafford.

Juan is one of the Chelsea players David Moyes admires the most but Chelsea’s valuation, believed to be around £35M, seems to be a big barrier.

The Spanish midfielder, who has already 32 caps for his country – hasn’t figured in any of the games since New Year’s Eve and has struggled to find a place under Jose Mourinho.

Juan Mata was player of the year two seasons running

Juan joined Chelsea from Valencia in August 2011 for £23.5M and was elected Chelsea’s official player of the year for the past two seasons as the club managed to win the FA Cup, Champions League and Europa League.

And despite the public’s opinion that he will not leave, Jose said that he needed to “adapt to the direction” and that he “didn’t want him to go.”

Chelsea has reportedly set a £40-45M price tag on the talented midfielder in response to United’s interest. It will also be interesting to see if Mourinho’s long-lasting pursuit of Wayne Rooney enters into discussions.

Do you think Chelsea should keep their former player of the year, or do you feel as though it would be in their best interests to garner a significant return rather than keep him on the bench? Comment below.
