Wayne Rooney & RVP missing for United

Manchester United will again be without talismanic duo Wayne Rooney and Robin Van Persie for Sundays trip to Chelsea.

Rooney is back in England following warm weather training that was designed to treat an ongoing groin problem.

It was hoped he would be back in time for the crucial trip to Stamford Bridge but David Moyes has revealed the injury hasn’t healed sufficiently in time for this weekends clash.

Moyes on Wayne Rooney

“Wayne’s come back, he’s fresh but he’s not ready for Chelsea”

“He’s training, he’s on the grass, doing some running and looking quite good. He’s had a break, done a lot of strengthening work around his groin and hopefully enjoyed a few days in the sunshine as well.”

Robin van Persie who has been a regular absentee through injury this season, has played only twice since November 10th.

He will not return to full training next week by which time another United loss could leave them 14 points off top spot in the Premier League, this troublesome thigh injury is proving detrimental to United’s title challenge and these injuries will come as a huge blow for United and a huge fillip for home side Chelsea.

Moyes On Robin van Persie

“I’m hoping Robin has a good chance of training at the start of next week. It would be a great boost”

The clash between Chelsea and Manchester United sees 3rd place versus 7th in the league and United go into this match 9 points behind Chelsea and 11 behind league leaders Arsenal.

Moyes on Chelsea

“They’re a good team and we’ll do everything we can to win the game. We had a tight game at Old Trafford.”
