Chelsea to meet Varane release clause
Chelsea are set to meet Raphael Varane’s €30m release clause, according to Spanish newspaper Sport.
The centre-back joined Real Madrid in 2011, under the management of current Chelsea manager, José Mourinho. The Portuguese hasn’t hidden his admiration of the player, after playing him regularly ahead of the more experienced Pepe.
Varane made 33 appearances for Real Madrid last season but has battled with a long-term knee injury this season, with his last appearance for the club being on November 9, 2013.
