Jose Mourinho looks ready to get rid of John Obi Mikel and Gianelli Imbula could be the perfect replacement.
The 21-year-old was an initial target for the Blues last year but they failed to sign him. Instead, he left promoted side Guimguamp and joined Marseille. The French man hasn’t stopped impressing in Ligue 1 and is seen as a potential long term replacement for John Obi Mikel.
The Nigerian signed for Chelsea in 2006 aged 18, and has enjoyed the best moments of his career with Chelsea, winning the Champions League, Europa League and the Premier League during his spell.
His contract ends at the end of the season and he has been told he can leave Chelsea for a small fee.
Jose Mourinho is already thinking of the squad next season as he tries to build a young and strong team.
According to the French radio station RMC, any agreement regarding the young midfielder Imbula, would cost Chelsea as little as £15m, knowing that the Olympique de Marseille, who currently sit 5th in the Ligue 1 table, are likely to raise the cash to buy a new striker.
