Chelsea eyeing Diego Costa and Adam Lallana double swoop

Chelsea have stepped up their interest in signing Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa and have also been linked with a move for Southampton midfielder Adam Lallana

Chelsea have started negotiations through third parties in a bid to secure the signature of Diego Costa on a deal worth 35million.

Mourinho is keen to strengthen his attacking options and has identified Costa as the main striker he wants for next season. Chelsea wants to wrap up the deal before he leaves for the World Cup in Brazil.

Part of the deal may include Fernando Torres making a return to Vicente Calderon or another loan spell for Thibaut Courtois.

Stat Attack: Costa has scored 24 goals in La Liga this season, only Ronaldo has scored more (27) than him.

Chelsea are also interested in signing Southampton midfielder Adam Lallana, who enjoying an impressive season for the Saints so far having scored eight goals and assisting five more.

Italian journalist Tancredi Palmeri tweeted last night saying “Chelsea having contacts for Southampton’s Lallana, according to Sky Italy.”

However, Saints manager Mauricio Pochettino has already made it clear he is keen to keep hold of their key players.

Lallana who signed a new five-year deal last April is tied down at St Mary’s until 2018, which makes the deal unlikely to go through unless Chelsea make a decent offer which the Saints cannot refuse.
