Mourinho blocked De Bruyne’s Dortmund transfer

It has been revealed that Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho blocked Kevin De Bruyne’s transfer to Dortmund following the German club’s refusal to negotiate over striker Robert Lewandowski.

According to IBTimes, German side Borussia Dortmund were very keen in signing midfielder Keven De Bruyne from Chelsea, but the Jose Mourinho decided to block the deal.

The Belgian international had a very successful spell in the Bundesliga for Werder Breman on loan last season, attracting the attention of many clubs around the world, particularly in the German league, before eventually moving to Wolfsburg in a £17m deal in January.

Such was the success of his previous loan spell in Germany that the creative midfielder was attracting attention from last season’s Champion’s League runners up Borussia Dortmund.

However, due to the German sides refusal to negotiate over striker Robert Lewandowski, who recently agreed a pre-contract to join rivals Bayern Munich, Jose Mourinho decided to block the deal  altogether.

Speaking to Bild, Kevin De Bruyne had this to say about the situation:

“Mourinho said no. This is professional football, where there is a lot of money involved. So sometimes strange decisions are made.”

Following a successful debut against Hull in Mourinho’s return to the London club, it seemed apparent that the Belgian would be a large part of the manager’s plans, particularly with Juan Mata seemingly extinguished from the starting XI.

However, the midfielder made just 5 more Premier League appearances to go along side a disappointing performance against League One outfit Swindon Town, which saw him fall out of favor with The Special One.
