Hazard: Jose was right, I must improve

Eden Hazard has revealed that he feels claims from his manager regarding his commitment to the team were justified and correct.

Mourinho made the comments following Chelsea’s exit from the Champions League against Atlético Madrid, in which Hazard appeared to be responsible for a crucial goal by not following his man defensively.

“He (Hazard) is not ready to sacrifice himself 100% for the team and for his mates.”

Following these comments there were rumours regarding the Belgian’s future at the club, with PSG interested in the winger and Hazard apparently open to a move to the French champions.

However, speaking to the Chelsea FC website and magazine this week, Hazard eased any fears the fans may have over his future at the club, and even admitted Mourinho’s comments were correct:

“It’s true, and it’s good. I prefer when we speak like this rather than… ‘he’s the best and doesn’t need to work'”. I know maybe I have to do better in training and on the pitch.”

“I want to score more goals and help the team score more goals and next season I hope we can do better”, Chelsea’s top scorer for the season added.

Chelsea went trophyless in Mourinho’s first season back in charge of the Blues, but Hazard was ambitious about was the squad could achieve next campaign.

“This season was an ‘almost’ season… next season, with this team, we can win the Premier League and maybe the Champions League.”

“I always want to score more goals and improve. That is a big objective.”

The winger’s insistence about the team and himself improving next season will be music to Chelsea fans ears, especially those who were worried about losing their star man, who netted 17 goals last term.

Hazard scooped the Young Players of the Year award for the Premier League and the Chelsea Player of the Year award recently, and the fact he can take comments on board like this will surely please the Chelsea boss.
