Remy to Chelsea?

Loic Remy has proven himself a worthy goalscorer in the Premier League, and if reports arising from his native country are to be believed, the Frenchman is trying to push a deal through that would see him swapping the white and blue of QPR for the royal blue of Chelsea.

The 27-year-old, who was on loan at Newcastle last season, scored a total of 14 Premier League goals. The France international proved to be a shining beacon even in the midst of Newcastle’s capitulation towards the end of the season.

However, with the World Cup soon to be underway, Remy is wanting to showcase his talent so as to fast track a ride to Champions League football.

Of course, Chelsea can offer him such a prize, but if Costa is to make a switch to the Bridge as is reported, then it is more than likely the Frenchman would have to settle for playing second fiddle.

Harry Redknapp, whose club officially owns the player, has stated that he does not think the France international will be plying his trade for them next season:

“I don’t see Remy wanting to come back and play. He’s talking about Champions League somewhere”, the 67-year-old said.

“I wouldn’t know what he’ll do, but I think he’s got a buy-out clause at a reasonable level”.

Loic Remy isn’t a striker who bleeds for his club, yet his talent and eye for goal would be a worthy asset to the Blues if they are to challenge on all fronts next season. With Eto’o’s contract having expired, and both Torres and Ba continuing to misfire, Remy would be an exciting addition to a squad in need of a prolific striker or two.
