Reports: Chelsea tie up Lampard contract

Reports from various media outlets today claim that Chelsea are close to sealing, if they have not done so already, a new contract for legendary Frank Lampard.

Frank Lampard is set to stay with fellow veteran John Terry for another season as Chelsea reportedly sealed a new one year deal for the midfielder.

Lampard’s contract is up in the summer after he signed an extension at the end of the 2012/2013 season, and rumours have circulated regarding his future in West London.

However, reports today (Wednesday) claim that he has sealed another year at the club at which he has spent the last 13 years, after joining from London rivals West Ham.

The Express claim that a source close to Lampard said this earlier this week:

“Frank is feeling very positive about the whole thing. He fully expects his Chelsea future to be resolved at some point next week before he flies off to Brazil.”

“He is not looking at any other option other than spending next season at Stamford Bridge”, the report adds.

The news will be music to the ears of many Chelsea fans who want to see legends such as Lampard, Terry and Cole finish their careers with the Blues. Sadly, it looks like the latter is set to leave Chelsea.

With Chelsea, Lampard has won three Premier League titles, four FA Cups, two League Cups, the Europa League and, of course, the Champions League trophy.

He is also Chelsea’s all time top scorer, despite playing midfield, with 211 goals since joining in 2001.
