Moses Future In Doubt

Reports today suggest a possible exit for Chelsea’s Victor Moses this Summer.

West Brom reportedly lead the chase to sign the Nigerian, although other clubs – such as Swansea, Southampton, and Everton – have been mentioned. Papers suggest that the deal could be a loan with a possible future offer to be put in place.

The winger is currently at the World Cup with Nigeria, after spending the season on loan at title rivals Liverpool. Moses joined the club from Wigan in August 2012, for a fee of £9m; he was often the impact substitute in the 12/13 season, featuring in 23 league games, but starting just 11.

The 23-year-old struggled to make an impression in his first season, relying on a series of Europa League appearances and goals to perhaps justify the price tag placed on him.

Scoring 10 goals in all competitions during the campaign, his direct approach was needed in a difficult season at the club – many Chelsea fans will remember his last minute header to win the game against Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League.

However, it became clear that Moses was brought in as more of a squad player than anything else, and with the acquisition of Willian last Summer, the winger was sent out on loan to Merseyside. Starting only 9 games during the season, the decision to send him to Liverpool was questioned; Jose may be looking to see how the player can develop with more Premier League experience, which makes West Brom a good option. Previously Chelsea have sent Romelu Lukaku to West Brom, where the Belgian really excelled.

With the sheer number of wingers at the club, in the shape of Willian, Hazard, Moses, Marin, Salah, Schurrle, Piazon, Atsu, Traore – who would you like to see in the team next season? And who should be sent out or sold?
