Europe: Planned To Perfection, Where It All Went Right

Chelsea are rapidly becoming the team in Europe to watch. With recent success in Europe over the last few seasons, it seems as if there is no stopping Chelsea from becoming an even stronger force!

So, where did it all go right?

Well to begin with lets go back a few years. Chelsea have made some extremely intelligent signings with the likes of Courtois, Hazard and Oscar being key examples. With Eden Hazard being the oldest out of these three examples at just 23, Chelsea have managed to successfully obtain the signatures of some of the best young talents that the world has to offer. You see, although we may not have won the league since the 2009/2010 season, we have been preparing for the new Chelsea era.

If you look at the likes of Manchester City, they may have won the league twice in the last three seasons but they are an ageing side with many of their players coming towards the end of their careers.

Now if you look at Chelsea, there are only a few players nearing the end of their time at Chelsea, examples being Petr Cech and John Terry. However we have World Class talent ready to replace these players with the likes of Thibaut Courtois and Kurt Zouma coming in to the squad in the not too distant future.

Now, lets look at Chelsea’s development from the financial side of things. I’m sure everyone is aware with the Financial Fair Play Rules taking place from this season. These rules include clubs not being able to make a significant loss during each Transfer Window for now on. This means, for every top class player brought into the club, it is likely another will have to leave. This is where Chelsea are ahead of the likes of Manchester City.

With the amount of young talent that has been bought over the last few years, Chelsea are in no need to buy too many big name players. If you look at some of Chelsea’s young stars coming through the ranks, we have Thorgan Hazard, Christian Atsu, Romelu Lukaku, Kurt Zouma, Lucas Piazon and so much more. Manchester City however have few if any real stand out young talents coming through the ranks.

This means City will have to spend big yet again in future transfer windows which in turn will mean they have to sell some of their better players.

Next on the list is Jose Mourinho. By bringing The Special One back to the bridge, as long as he doesn’t full out with Roman Abramovich again, I am very confident that the club is in great hands for up to two decades! Mourinho, is seen by many as the best manager in the world, known for his tactical genius, his ability to make the right signings and his ability to bring out the best in his players, he has already achieved very promising things at Chelsea.

If you look at last season, Chelsea were unbeaten against all teams in the top four, winning five and drawing one. He managed to achieve this without a top class striker! So imagine what he should be able to achieve with the likes of Diego Costa at his disposal.

Let’s hope next season is our season!
