Chelsea hijack Real Madrid move

Chelsea have reportedly made a late attempt to hijack Real Madrid’s move for Bayern Munich star Toni Kroos after matching the Spanish giants’#19.9million offer for the German international.

Madrid were expected to complete the signing of Kroos after the World Cup, having had their offer accepted for the player this week. But now, according to Spanish ‘AS’, Chelsea have also matched their £19.9million bid and Blues boss Jose Mourinho will now try and tempt the player to ply his trade at Stamford Bridge next season.

‘Metro’ reported last month that Chelsea have already promised Kroos a giant £125,000-a-week deal. The London side reportedly believe that their giant contract offer plus a lucrative bonus offer could tempt the player. Kroos, 24, was previously a target for fellow English side Manchester United, but Louis van Gaal ended the club’s long-lasting interest in the player shortly after his appointment as United manager.

Kroos has made no secret about his love for English football and despite leaving it late, Chelsea believe they could still grab the play-maker.

The player is still likely to end up at Real Madrid for the upcoming season, but given Chelsea’s recent history of last-minute hijacking of player transfers, don’t be surprised if Toni Kroos becomes the latest player to wear the Blue of Chelsea next season.
