Following his sides comfortable 1-3 victory over Burnley at Turf Moor on Monday, Mourinho hailed the performances of both Cesc Fabregas and Diego Costa.
Chelsea came back from a goal down to settle an easy opening day victory away to recently promoted Burnley.
Fabregas an Costa were two of the outstanding performers, and their efforts didn’t go unrecognised by their manager during post match interviews.
I agree with Cesc being Man of the Match. Him and Matic controlled the intensity of the game. Fabregas was the maestro.
“He [Fabregas] was always looking for the ball. He dictated the speed, intensity and direction of the game.”
Fabregas got two assists on his first competitive appearance for The Blues, one of which was a sublime pass to set Schurrle through and put Chelsea infront in the game.

He also praised Diego Costa, who pulled Chelsea level with a close range finish, focusing on his attitude and also his misfortune to not be awarded a penalty during the first half.
The kid presented himself with a fantastic attitude; clean, polite. He has a clear penalty & gets a booking [for apparent diving].
“He did something so important for us which was his first goal. The movement & interaction was good”, he added.
Finally, following his decision to choose Courtois ahead of Chelsea legend Petr Cech in goal, Mourinho stressed that he didn’t want the Czech captain to leave the club during the window.
He [Cech] hasn’t asked to leave & I hope he doesn’t ask. He will fight for his place because he’s a top professional.
“I want to keep him. Hopefully he stays”, he finished.
This comes amid rumours surrounding Cech’s future, with the 32 year old reportedly not ready to sit on the bench every week at Chelsea.
Mourinho is visibly happier with his team going into this season than he was for the majority of the last, and if Chelsea big guns keep performing as they did on Monday, Mourinho could be amongst the silverware come May.
