Chelsea captain John Terry has revealed that he feels Cech wants to stay at Chelsea and fight for his place in the team.
He did, however, admit he felt sorry for the Chelsea legend following his axing from the team to make room for 22 year old Thibaut Courtois.
He also praised the Belgian shot stopper, especially for his vital save against Leicester on Saturday that kept the scores level on his Stamford Bridge debut.
It was important he made a big save. It is the same for him aswell, like Diego with the goals.
“A one-on-one could have seen us go 1-0 down but he pulled off a great save and got a great reception from the fans. That will help him settle in”, Terry added.
He then went on to say why he felt sympathy for Cech, with whom Terry has lined up in the Chelsea defence with for a decade.
“It is so difficult because he has been the best keeper in the world for 10 years and in the Premier League. Thibaut has come in and done great in the first few games”, he said.
“It is very hard to take for big Petr but he is Chelsea through-and-through and has been unbelievable in the way he has responded in training – and in his attitude.”
The skipper then followed in his manager’s footsteps by praising how Cech has responded to being dropped from the starting 11 at Chelsea.
“Some players throw their toys out the pram and Petr, 100 per cent has not done that, he is fighting for his place and he has been here a long time.”
He still feels like he wants to stay here and fight for his place.
Cech has been linked with a move away from West London after being dropped to the bench, but quotes from his captain suggest that he wishes to stay at Stamford Bridge and earn his place back.
