While the international break continues, news has been spreading that Belgium goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, is set to pledge his loyalty to the Blues by penning a new 5 year deal.
Having spent the past 3 seasons on loan to Spanish champions, Atletico Madrid, where he has gained experienced and performed at the highest level.
Most notabily the Champions League final where his side looked set to cause a major upset that night and clinch the famous trophy.
Much debate has taken place regarding who should start as the number 1 for the blues. Petr Cech, an undoubted top professional and a seasoned veteran of the Premier League who won the golden glove which was shared with Arsenal keeper, Szczesny.
However, three games in and it looks like Jose has gone for youth over experience.
Cech has continued to show why he has been the number 1 at chelsea for so long by accepting that he must fight for his place. Having spent a good 10 years as Chelsea’s undisputed number 1 it would appear that he has been ousted by the young Belgian man.
So far he has kept 1 clean sheet in three games after playing a superb game against Leicester keeping the scores at 0-0 before we pulled through to finish 2-0 winners.
Should we keep the best young keeper in the world for the next 5 years, who knows what he could achieve with this club. This squad in my opinion is the the best ever assembled in terms of talent and skill.
