This week the Chelsea website interviewed Oscar as part of their ‘weekend interview’.
‘We are all learning together,’ Oscar tells the official Chelsea website. ‘The important thing for this new generation of players is to play as many games as possible together, to play important games and to play well.’
‘Personally I always work very hard but I like to play beautiful passes too because this is my natural game. It depends on the match sometimes. Against Arsenal for example I made lots of tackles – I think I recovered eight balls in defence – and this is important to do especially in big games.’

He then moves on to talk about the impact Mourinho has had on his recent form.
‘I feel the trust of the manager. Sometimes to play your best you need this. I think I have played more consistently well this season, when maybe last season I would play three or four good games then one or two not so good ones. That’s important for me, for the team and also for the manager, and I hope to continue like this.’
Oscar signed for Chelsea just over 2 years ago and he has already made over 120 appearances for us.
The 23 year old then tells the website how he needs to help the new players, now that he has gained a lot of experience and knowledge from wearing the famous blue shirt.
‘When you play so many games, as I have done in the last two years, for Chelsea and for the national team, and maybe the older players can’t play as much, it is helpful if I can use my experience.’
‘I feel I can help the younger players. For example I’ve played with Nathan Ake now a few times; Andreas Christensen came in and played at Shrewsbury. Now they are looking to me. I like that responsibility.’
‘Every time on the pitch I speak to the guys. If they lose the ball I say no problem, try again. It is important to help the young players. When I started playing the older players helped me and now I can try and do the same. But I have to say I’m not an old player yet!’
Oscar finally concludes the interview with his thoughts on what the future holds.
‘This year I’ve played almost every game again. I like playing in all the competitions because every game is difficult in this country. Playing games is the best thing for my development.’
‘I have so many more to come – I am only 23 years old,’ he adds. ‘I have another World Cup to try to win. Here at Chelsea I have many more important games to play. We were close last season in the Champions League and in the Premier League, and those are two competitions I am desperate to win. I keep going, always looking forward.’
