Sunderland v Chelsea – Match Preview

Premier League leaders Chelsea will travel to Sunderland tomorrow afternoon.

The Blackcats have the opportunity to end Chelsea’s unbeaten run this season. Last time, Sunderland beat Chelsea, was on April, 19 this year.

They also shocked the blues in the quarter final of the Capital One Cup but victory for Sunderland would  mean the biggest upset and  the first defeat for Chelsea this season after an impressive 10 games won out of 12, with only 2 draws.

Sunderland are unbeaten this month, following draws against Everton, Leicester City, and also a victory over Crystal Palace

In term of team news, on the one side, Sunderland is welcoming back the Argentina International, Ricky Alvarez who has been out since the end of August after damaging his knee and could well feature on the line up alongside his fellow teammate defender Sebastian Coates following a calf strain but a few players such as Emanuele Giacherrini and Billy Jones are still out of contention, due to injuries

On the other side, Chelsea is coming back fresh from the trashing of Schalke 04 in the Champions League, so the blues have no injury worries , except Nathan Ake who is the only inury abstentee .

However, Jose Mourniho may rotate his team, as the Premier League leaders will take on Tottenham, 4 days later before their trip to Newcastle.
