Tomas Kalas Loaned Out to Middlesbrough

Tomas Kalas is finally back in England after a dismal spell in Germany with newly ascended FC Köln.

Sadly, Kalas was not able to make any impact in the Bundesliga and failed to even come close to the starting XI for the Billy Goats. The Chelsea board took notice and was prompted into recalling the young Czech and loaning him out to Middlesbrough along with fellow Chelsea loanees Patrick Bamford and Kenneth Omeruo.

Here is the official statement from Chelsea FC’s twitter page-

His loan to Boro was made possible when Chelsea allowed Mark Schwarzer to leave the club and were forced to recall the young goaltender, Jamal Blackman, from his loan at the club from North-East England.

Tomas Kalas made his full Chelsea debut against Liverpool last season and impressed us all as he was able to shut down the then powerful attack consisting of Luis Suarez, Raheem Sterling, and Daniel Sturridge at Anfield. Kalas also impressed whilst on loan at Dutch side Vitesse.

If Kalas manages to demonstrate that he is worthy of being at a club with the stature of Chelsea whilst at Boro then he may be able to force his way onto the Chelsea bench next season and hopefully take part in the Blues Champions League campaign for next season.
