Tottenham 5-3 Chelsea – Match Report

After a dramatic draw at Southampton three days ago, Premier League leaders Cheslea thought they would kick off their 2015 campaign by victory but in fact they did the opposite as Tottenham produced the performance of the season after trashing the blues 5-3 today at White Hart Lane.

Harry Kane was the key player in this game as he inspired his team to win for the first time over Chelsea in five seasons.

Chelsea took the lead, when Chelsea’s top scorer Diego Costa scored within the first twenty minutes but then hosts upped the anti as Harry Kane equalised before Danny rose scored a before the break and Andros Townsend added to the scoreline from the penalty spot deep into first half stoppage time to make it 3-1.

Coming back from the dressing room, Tottenham felt it wasn’t enough as Harry Kane scored his second goal and extended the lead to 4-1, seven minutes into the second half and it looked well out of Chelsea’s reach but Chelsea’s Talisman Eden Hazard didn’t think that way when he pulled a goal less than 10 minutes after Kane’s great finish for Tottenham. Things looked a little bit tense between both teams.

Belgian Nacer Chadli scored the fifth goal for Tottenham at around the 73rd minute and Chelsea Captain John Terry pulled one goal for his team to make it 5-3 and help just about the goal difference to keep his team top of the table.

Chelsea hailed as the invicible opponents, at the beginning of the season, kept going downhill over the Christmas period when they drew with Southampton before conceding five goals tonight in London derby which is the second heaviest defeat Mourinho’s career.

This disappointing result, sees the blues miss the opportunity to keep the lead as Manchester City won today against Leicester which gives them the opportunity to draw level on points.

Chelsea will switch their mind from the Premier League when they host championship side Watford at Stamford Bridge in the FA Cup on Sunday the 4th.
