Are Chelsea in for Koke?

There are a lot of stories circulating about Chelsea’s eagerness to sign Atletico Madrid’s star midfielder Koke and the speculators have gone on further to hint the deal could see Luis heading back.

There are 4 reasons why we should ignore this rumour.

Luis has played very well at Chelsea when given the opportunity to play and we have had one of the best defence in the premiership this season, the last thing any logical manager would do is disrupt a successful defensive team.

Koke has a £48 million pound release clause, so I don’t see Chelsea paying more for Koke than they paid for Costa and Fabregas. Jose is also very serious about financial fair play.

Chelsea have been very shrewd in the transfer market, knowing what they need before each window opens and sealing the deals very early. The key word is need; Chelsea have emerged stronger after each transfer window by plugging the gaps in their squad. The re- emergence of Ramires has increased the competition in midfield and the versatility of Zouma means Chelsea have cover for Matic. I don’t think Koke would actually strengthen Chelsea in any way.

Chelsea has invested heavily in their youth system and promoted a lot of players from the youth system into the first team, Jose has already promised to give these youngsters more game time next season.
