After witnessing Chelsea bow out of the FA Cup and the Champions league my worst fear became reality; for some time I suspected the team was losing steam and struggling to play a competitive match every 3 days.
Chelsea now find themselves with the luxury of playing every 7 days for the first time in a very long time and that gives the players time to recover and focus on one target every week.
Let’s look at the key stats of our last encounter and the impact of playing every 7 days so far.
- Chelsea won 21 Free Kicks. Hazard Hazard Hazard. If you can’t stop him foul him.
- Chelsea won 1 penalty. Fabregas has lots of quality winning the penalty is just the first step in many steps he needs to take to rediscover his form.
- Chelsea managed 16 shots at goal. Remy is a different kind of striker. The kind of different defenders in the EPL are not used to dealing with.
- Chelsea managed to get 10 shots on target. They forced a save every 9 minutes. I hope this improves and comes down to 5 minutes.
- Chelsea won 9 corners and conceded 0 corners this basically shows that our back four where in control.
- Our goalkeeper was forced to make 1 save all afternoon.
- Chelsea got 1 yellow card Stoke got 6 yellow cards.
I feel the next game is a tough game and if QPR fail to stop Chelsea nobody will. Arsenal is currently the inform squad but they are likely to face a Chelsea getting into full stride and get brushed aside.
It will be interesting to see what Jose does over the off season to strengthen the side to compete on all fronts, the current Chelsea has shown that they are not capable of competing on all fronts, something is missing.
I was wrong about Matic, wrong about Costa and wrong about Remy all 3 players have performed very well and proven to be great acquisitions.
I have a poor track record in knowing who is best for my team but every year I come up with a wish list. I would love to see a Matic Pogba partnership and move Fabregas to the number 10 on a permanent basis. And have RLC resting Pogba or Matic every other game to get some rotation going on.
