Mourinho mocks Wenger (again)

Jose Mourinho’s famous ongoing rivalry with Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has continued this week ahead of their meeting on Sunday afternoon.

Wenger provoked the Special One this week by claiming that “it is easy to defend” as he aimed to play down Chelsea’s dominance at the top of the league.

Mourinho responded in typical fashion and with reference to Arsenal’s Champions League exit, he said:

It’s not easy (to defend). If it was easy, you wouldn’t lose 3-1 at home to Monaco.

Wenger has failed to ever get the better of Mourinho, drawing five and losing seven of their twelve previous meetings.

The war of words between the pair has been well documented during both Mourinho’s spells at Stamford Bridge, with the most recent jab being the Chelsea boss’ claim last year that Wenger was a “specialist in failure”.

Chelsea can get a firm grasp on the Premier League crown on Sunday – a win would leave them just three points away from being champions – but with Arsenal in stunning form, a win may be a more difficult task than it has been in the past.

The Blues are currently ten points clear of their North London rivals at the summit of the table and already have the League Cup in the bag, while Arsenal have an FA Cup final against Aston Villa to look forward to at the end of May.
