Chelsea 1-0 Crystal Palace – Player Ratings

Chelsea were crowned Premier League champions after defeating Crystal Palace 1-0 at Stamford Bridge on Sunday. The game went according to Jose Mourinho’s plan, here are our ratings:

Courtois – Able to stop one major threat this afternoon in the second half. 6

Ivanovic – A good shift in defence from the Serbian. I have the impression he is tired after a very long season and been involved in every game. We have been seeing less runs forwards from him of late. 6

Cahill – Solid performance from the England international. 6

Terry (c) – Made some vital interceptions and blocks from the captain and always seemed to be at the right place at the right time. 7

Azpilicueta – A tough afternoon for the Spaniard as Crystal Palace has some very pacey tricky forwards, but did his job. 7

Cuadrado – Impressive performance for someone who got called to fill in at the last minute. It would be unfair to criticize him considering the circumstances he played under. 5

Matic – Another faultless performance from the Serbian. 6

Willian – Once again he was the hardest working player on the pitch and made a few attempts at goal. The next stage in Willian’s development is to convert this hard work into goals and assists. If he can play like he did this year and score about 10 goals next season and make 10 assists he could easily pip Hazard as the most valuable player in Chelsea. 8

Fabregas – A vital cog in the Chelsea midfield displayed great vision and put in lots of work in defence. 7

Hazard – Scored the winning goal and was constantly a threat with his mazy runs. 7

Drogba – A few great attempts at goal and did really well to hold the ball and combine with other attacking players, his experience was key in helping Chelsea over the finish line. 7

Filipe Luis – came on in the dying phase of the game and did well to chase everything and apply pressure on who ever had possession. 5

Zouma – Only on the pitch for a few minutes but made some very critical interceptions and blocks, one crazy sliding tackle – he is truly a rising star. 7

Mikel – Played further forward and was unlucky not to get a goal, also did well to help Chelsea retain possession. 7
