Neville: I would have loved playing alongside Courtois

Former Manchester United player, Gary Neville, who now works a pundit for Sky sports, said Thibault Courtois is the type of goalkeeper he would have loved to have in his team

Thibault Courtois signed for the Blues, back in 2011 but was immediately sent on loan to Atletico Madrid, where he claimed la Liga, Europa League and Copa del Rey throughout the three seasons before eventually coming back to Chelsea last summer.

The 23 years old has started 32 games, putting pressure on Petr Cech who is expected to leave this summer, having spent most of the season on the bench.

Gary Neville praised the Belgian goalkeeper and said he wouldn’t be surprised if Courtois would be the Chelsea goalkeeper for the next decade.

He’s won three championships in three different countries in the last few seasons and for me he’s the type of ‘keeper I’d love to be a defender in front of

Gary Neville was a little bit surprised of the comparison between Courtois and De Gea, he added:

“We’ve just named De Gea as our young player of the year but it just seems crazy we are not celebrating Thibaut Courtois. He’s been absolutely brilliant this season. He’s an absolutely brilliant player and I think Chelsea have got an outstanding goalkeeper for the next 10 years.”
