Courtois – Goalkeepers at this level shouldn’t get beaten at their near post, despite the fact that it was a great shot. 5
Ivanovic – Looked a bit lost out there, although we dominated possession we didn’t see any runs to get behind West Brom. 5
Cahill – One of the only one’s to have had a decent game. 6
Terry (c) – The penalty he gave away was avoidable, his positioning was off before the ball came through – quite quiet apart from that. 5
Filipe Luis – Similar to Ivanovic, every time he got the ball and started driving forward he was unable to break down their defence. 6
Loftus-Cheek – Loftus was probably one of our best players on the night, barely put a foot wrong. 7
Matic – Matic was Matic. 6
Remy – A quiet first half but eventually came to life, came close once when a shot hit the bar. 6
Fabregas – His sending off was funny, but careless and cost us the game, we missed his creativity in the final third but the fans will forgive him quickly. Chelsea players are human and feel the pressure at times, there is anything we can do about this but just forgive, move on and we won’t see this next season. 3
Hazard – Had a tough night and had to take all the burden of creativity for the night. 7
Diego Costa – Was forced to play wide most of the game, looked unfit. 6
Subs
Ake – Didn’t get much time on the pitch, but him and Brown worked well together. 6
Cuadrado – He could turn out to be the biggest disasters at Chelsea, he had a great opportunity to come in and turn the game around maybe create a consolation goal – but it wasn’t the case. 5
Brown – Not given enough time on the pitch but like the other youngsters I can see there is a strong case for him to stay and become part of the team next season. 6
Disappointing result but some positives from the game are we have a good group of youngsters who can come in next year and give the senior players rest in competitions like the Capital One Cup and preliminary rounds of the FA cup.
We need one big signing to inject life into our attack and give us more attacking options. I would love Yaya Toure or Bale what do you think?
