Cech set for Arsenal medical

Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech is set to undergo a medical at Arsenal on Friday ahead of his proposed move across the capital reports ESPN FC.

The London rivals have agreed a fee for the Czech international and the player has settled personal terms with Arsene Wenger’s side.

Cech, who has been at Chelsea for 11 years and replaced Carlo Cudicini as the Blues’ first choice keeper, was displaced by Thibaut Courtois last season and only managed 16 appearances.

Jose Mourinho had wanted to keep the legendary shot stopper at Stamford Bridge or only sell him to a foreign side but, thanks to Roman Abramovic, Cech looks set to get his way.

The 33 year-old, who has won just about everything there is to win during his time at SW6, was keen not to uproot his family, who are settled in the capital.

Reports also suggest that he has been given a parting gift of up to £4 million by owner Roman Abramovic as a reward for his dedicated service to the Premier League champions.

Chelsea fans aren’t likely to enjoy seeing another player depart to direct rivals but, with only the medical to complete, Arsenal’s first summer signing looks set to be completed by next week.
