With rumours flying everywhere since the end of the season, Chelsea have constantly been linked with star players from across the world. Paul Pogba, Antoine Griezmann, Radamel Falcao and even Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale are all names that have been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge.
However, the Metro are reporting something new. According to the newspaper, Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain is set to choose between Arsenal and Chelsea this summer, with both managers willing to pay the £29m price tag.
The 27-year-old Argentine international has played under Mourinho before at Real Madrid in 2010. It is obvious that no-one is going to be brought in to replace Diego Costa in Chelsea’s starting line-up, but Higuain would be an incredible back-up. There’s only one slight thing that stands in the way of this deal – the Blues’ interest in AS Monaco star, Falcao.
Since his days in Spain with Atletico Madrid, Falcao has constantly been linked with a move to West London. However, these links are now stronger than ever. After his loan spell at Manchester United, the Colombian international is eager to stay in the Premier League. The deal that is being suggested at Stamford Bridge is a loan, with the option to buy – similar to what Manchester United were given.
