The Brazil under-20s striker drew the attention of a number of top European clubs in recent years with his impressive performances. Today the Premier League champions managed to capture his signature in preparation for the new season.
Kenedy has been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea since 2013, when he admitted that he was an admirer of the club and particularly of their Brazilian contingent.
“Of course, I am happy to play for Fluminense but it is my ambition to one day play in Europe,” he said.
I like Chelsea because of players like Oscar and Ramires. I like the whole team.
Talks apparently began in early May, with Barcelona legend and ex-Chelsea midfielder Deco acting as a liaison between the two clubs.
At the time of reporting, the fee has not been officially disclosed, but it is said to be in the region of £10m.
Kenedy is one of the brightest young lights in South American football. Early in his career, he was likened to Neymar for his quick feet and ability to carry the ball at pace. As he has physically developed, he has turned into more of an archetypal centre forward.

Uncompromising, inventive and optimistic in his play; many believe that Kenedy could become one of the best players in the world if he continues his rapid progress.
Jose Mourinho recently stressed that he intends to place an emphasis on youth in the coming seasons. Whether or not Kenedy goes on loan at the start of his Chelsea career, he could end up being central to their long term plans sooner rather than later.
