Lewis Baker loaned to Vitesse Arnhem for season

Lewis Baker, England’s U20 captain, will spend the entire 2015/16 season in the Dutch Eridivisie on loan at Vitesse Arnhem.

Baker recently received a new long-term contract at Chelsea, keeping him for another four years. He spent the end of last season  with MK Dons, helping them secure promotion into the Championship.

Chelsea announced the news via the official website.

We have agreed terms with Vitesse Arnhem for Lewis Baker to spend the 2015-16 season on loan at the Dutch club.

Last season, Mourinho said that if Baker, along with others, were not full England internationals within a few years, he would have failed his job.

Baker spent the first half of last season at Sheffield Wednesday, only making a few appearances before switching to MK Dons. Baker scored 3 goals and assisted a few more while at MK Dons, making an impact whenever he played.

Baker will likely fit into Vitesse Arnhem’s midfield three, occupying the space left by the departing Vejinovic.

Baker will hope to emulate the success of Traore at Vitesse, who has likely earned himself a place in the first team this season after impressing on loan.

Good luck to Lewis Baker, and hopefully we see him breaking into the Chelsea team within a few years.
