Harry Redknapp has revealed how close Eden Hazard was from signing to Tottenham during an interview with FourFourTwo.
Prior to the player’s move to Chelsea from Lille, the former Spurs manager, Harry Redknapp held talks with the Belgium international for a potential move to the North London club.
There are a few players in the Premier League that I liked and I still like, such as Eden Hazard. I met him in Paris in a hotel for two hours. He was in favour of joining the club.”
Hazard wasn’t the only Belgium player very close to join Tottenham, so was Thibault Courtois who joined Chelsea last summer from his loan at Atletico Madrid.
“We had his mum and dad over. We had a meeting with the chairman Daniel Levy, him and his mum and dad. We were in for him when he was probably 17. We could have had him.”
