Ruben Loftus Cheek given new warning

It is fair to say that Ruben Loftus Cheek is a talented player, and that is exactly what Jose Mourinho said about him.

However the youngster has been given a new warning by his under 21 manager, Gareth Southgate. Jose Mourinho had already told Ruben Loftus Cheek, he couldn’t afford any dip in his current form, and it looks like Gareth Southgate completely agrees with the Portuguese manager.

Both managers are currently paying attention to the youngster because he’s tall, strong and they both know he can be a very good player in the future.

Before arriving at St George’s Park training ground, Gareth Southgate met the youngster to discuss with him about  the comments and said:

“We’ve had a chat about it and he knows he wasn’t at the level that’s needed. He knows what he has to do. He’s a very determined kid, but he’s young so we keep challenging him. In a sense, it was good what Mourinho said; if he didn’t care about him, he wouldn’t make those kind of comments.”

Gareth Southgate is doing his best to ensure, the kid gets the right development to improve and become a better player, he added:

“He’ll be an important player. Ruben has dipped his toe in the water in the Premier League, but he knows he’s got to keep proving himself. He’s at a club where competition for places is as hard as anywhere in the country. Chelsea have a fantastic academy and development system, but getting into the first team is always going to be a real challenge.”
