Simeone wants Luis back

With recent rumours linking Brazilian defender Filipe Luis with a move back to the Vincente Calderon, what better time for Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone to confirm he’s interest in bringing the 29-year-old back to La Liga.

[Filipe Luis] is a player we like a lot as a kid but who also knows us well and has given a lot to the team. I hope it happens.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has stated on several occasions that the Blues will not be looking to sell their players, and are only interested in bringing 2-3 fresh faces to West London, prior to the new season in August.

However, this could change. Filipe Luis couldn’t knock Cesar Azpilicueta out of the team last year, so ended up watching the majority of the season from the bench. Should Spaniard Azpilicueta get injured, Luis is Chelsea’s only recognisable left-back. Therefore if he does leave, filling the space left would be needed as soon as possible.

The West London club have been linked with a move for Baba Rahman, who could very well replace Luis. If Luis did leave, would Chelsea get their money back? It’s highly doubted.
