Breaking: Everton reject Chelsea’s bid for Stones

According to Sky Sources, Chelsea have had a £20m bid rejected from Everton for young English defender, John Stones.

It has been reported since the end of the season that the Premier League champions are interested in the 21-year-old who has impressed every time he has played for the Toffees. Stones is mainly a central defender, but when needed, can also slot into the right back position.

With question marks raised about the consistency of Gary Cahill, who was dropped around Christmas time last season, Stones would come in and create tough competition for the fellow England defender.

For Stones’ progress, what would be better than lining up alongside John Terry, a footballer that most will look up to for an idol of how to defend, despite his age. Terry was one of, if not the best, central defender in the league last season, and is a type of person who’ll help Stones grow.

Despite the initial bid being rejected by Roberto Martinez’s side, I think it’s fair to say that the Blues will increase their offer and bid again, if they are really interested in the young talent.

Finally, Stones would be added as a home grown player to the Chelsea squad, and would be a nice addition to the squad.
