As QPR drop into the Championship after being relegated last season, Charlie Austin is looking to stay in the top flight of English football, with many teams interested in the English international.
Unfortunately for Chelsea fans and Jose Mourinho, a winner in the race for the striker has been reported, but it’s not the Premier League champions.
The Daily Star are reporting that Newcastle United are all set to sign Austin, with the Magpies’ owner Mike Ashley spending £15m on the ex-Queens Park Rangers star. Austin’s current employers had rejected a bid of £12m from Leicester City, just hours before.
Initially, Chelsea were expressing interest in the man that scored 18 goals last season. However, Mourinho and co were quickly overshadowed by the likes of Bournemouth, Southampton, West Brom, and Newcastle United.
Despite scoring 18 goals for his club last season, Austin couldn’t help QPR avoid relegation, with no-one but themselves to blame.
