According to The Telegraph, Chelsea are preparing a bid this summer in the region of £34m for young and talented English centre-back, John Stones from Everton.
Last week, the Blues had sent the Toffee’s a £20m bid for their defender, which was swiftly rejected by Roberto Martinez’s side. Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has admitted that he is unwilling to give up his pursuit in the youngster who could potentially replace John Terry, who isn’t getting any younger by any stretch of the imagination.
For Everton, the 21-year-old was in brilliant form last season. Reports suggest that the Premier League champions are so eager to land Stones, that they will triple his wages to help him change his mind. If Stones did make the switch to West London, he’d also be helping the Premier League champions’ home-grown players status.
However, Chelsea face competition for their man. The Mirror have reported that Louis van Gaal and Manchester United are keen on the defender, and keeping an eye on the current situation.
